| Address: 3116 S. Shepherd Roeders Pub (Houston) TX, 77098 Description: If your tie isn't loose or your hair let down when you walk into Roeders Pub, I give you five minutes before you start clawing at it. This cozy spot caters to a casual crowd, not to mention sports nuts. The interior has a masculine flair with a dark, worn wood floor and bar, walls of dark red brick and lazy fans hanging from the ceiling. The overall feel is warm and comfortable, just like the friendly patrons, who are primarily professionals looking to unwind during weekday happy hours and a younger clientele later at night and on weekends. The bar has five TV sets, even though the pub is by no means large. A jukebox, stocked with rock, Top 40 hits and a touch of country, provides music, but be prepared to tap your foot to the excitement of a football game because no music is allowed during games -- especially on Sundays and Mondays, which are dedicated to the sport. You'll always find darts and conversation. Roeders has a full bar with a good selection of beers and an especially wide variety of scotches, but it does not serve frozen drinks. Other than bowls of nuts or popcorn, Roeders doesn't serve food, except on Mondays, when $12 gets you a 16-ounce rib-eye steak, a baked potato and a salad. Hours: 3 p.m.-2 a.m. daily; noon-2 a.m. Sundays during football season. Happy hour: 50 cents off cocktails and draft beers 3-7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, as well as daily specials. Parking: Behind the establishment. Tunes: Jukebox stocked with rock, soul, country and Top 40 sounds. Noise level: Moderate -- good for conversation. Smoke level: Moderate. Crowd: Very casual, attracting professionals in their 30s and 40s during happy hours, but a younger crowd later in the evening and on weekends. Cover charge: None . Specialty drink: Great martinis. Bathrooms: Nice and clean.
